Summer League 2020

 

MEREWETHER entered two teams to play in the 15 end, 2 bowl triple competition.
 

TEAM RED - Colleen Chaffey, Lesley Afflick and Hilary Jenkins (reserve Kath Cornish).

During the competition Hilary was out of action with her shoulder and Kath Cornish substituted for her.
 

TEAM WHITE - Sylvia Murray, Laraine Clifford, Lee-Anne Baxter (reserve Maggie Wilkins).

Rose Allars (1 game) substitutes for Laraine Clifford, Kay McMillan (1 game) substituted for Lee-Anne Baxter. Maggie was unwell at the time and was unable to help us out.

 

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions which forced the Pennant season to close in March, we were hoping that more clubs would have entered this competition, but only two teams from Mayfield West and us made up the whole competition, which was disappointing.

 

Merewether White came first with 8 points, 1 point ahead of the Mayfield West Magpies.

The last game we played was the Magpies and at that stage of the competition we were 1 point behind them and had to win this game for the overall result to declare us the winners.

The game was tied 11-11 on end 13 and we were 2 points behind after the 14th end. The last end was a thriller. We were able to win this end by 3 to give us a 1 point lead 14-13.

 

We have qualified to enter the State Finals to be held at Blacktown Workers Club on 27th and 28th February, 2021.
