Womens Pairs Final 2020

Well, WHAT A GAME!
Hilary & Lesley got off to an early start & were leading comfortably by 12 – 8. All were playing beautiful bowls but just cruising along in 1’s & 2’s.
By the 12th end, Hilary & Lesley were leading 13 – 9 then Jo & Mary took one on the 13th making it 13 – 10. After the 14th end, Mary & Jo had increased their margin to only 1 down, 13 – 12! All the spectators were getting very nervous - this is going to be a great match!!
On the 16th end, Hilary & Lesley were holding 3 shots until Jo put in a wonderful wick & took 2 shots now making the score 14 all!
On the 17th end, Hilary & Lesley turned up the heat & were holding 2 but Jo & Mary turned the tables and finished that end 16 – 14.
One end to go & Jo & Mary dealt the coup de grace with one shot & finished the match 17 – 14!
What a wonderful game, beautiful bowls being played the entire time by both teams & had the spectators on their feet & gave them a real thrill. Much better than watching rugby league!!!!
Well done to both teams & we look forward to some more great bowls from our ladies of Merewether Bowling Club.
